Course Overview

COURSE OVERVIEW

Session One: Getting Ready

You are about to embark on a "learning journey" that uses technology that may be new to you. To set your group up for success, the first session is set aside to familiarize everyone with the course, expectations, and technology.

Session Two: Acknowledging God's Unique Deposit

When you hear the word "leader," what comes to mind? Do you see yourself as a leader? People sometimes disqualify themselves from leadership, thinking, "that's just not me!" What if leadership is simply influence. God calls us to live lives of influence, bringing what we have to Him. In this session, participants will discover their unique strengths and spiritual gifts and begin to identify their “first name.” When we know who we are we can begin to explore what God has in mind for us in His mission.

Session Three: The Power of Women Released

Women have always played an essential part in God's unfolding story and we believe that God continues to use women in remarkable ways. In this session, we will look at God’s original plan for women and men as equal partners, mandated to care for creation. We will also briefly cover the history of women leading in the church, and our ongoing invitation to be co-laborers with Him in His mission.

Session Four: The Power of God's Story in Your Life

God has had His eye on you from the beginning. Scripture tells us that "long before He laid down earth's foundation. He had "His eye on us!" God has been developing you for purpose your entire life! In this session, we will look at Robert Clinton's work on the making of a leader and process your leadership timeline. Your timeline will help you see the story God is (and has always been) unfolding in your life.

Session Five: The Power of Courage

Partnering with God will always require us to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone. Sometimes we can push ourselves to meet the challenge before us, and sometimes we resist and pull back. Our ability to rise to steeper challenges and take risks ultimately rests in our confidence in God. Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” In this session, we will look at how we can practically build our confidence, which enables us to be on mission with Him.

Session Six: The Power of Next Steps

Let’s bring it all together. It is important to process and solidify our learning. We don’t want this course to end as “just another bible study,” but want our best next steps to be clear. In this session, we will each share the insights gained from this course, by presenting our IDENTITY statement and SMARTER Goal. This will be followed up with prayer for one another.

By the end of the course you will have:

  • Identified your unique strengths and spiritual gifts.
  • Examined Women, Leadership and the Blessed Alliance, analyzing your own convictions about the subject and creating a plan for further study as needed.
  • Completed a leadership timeline to identify and share a “turning point” in your personal journey
  • Answered the questions “Who am I?” and “What did God make me to do?” in light of God’s Mission
  • Mapped out your “best next steps” using the IDENTITY Statement and SMARTER goal
